Well it finally happened. I retired after 31 years with the State of Florida on January 6, 2011 with a great party. It was a great day as my son surprised me by coming in his dress blues. He looked great and made me very proud. I had my wife, daughter Nicole, Dave and his girlfriend, Tiffany at my party. The party was shared with another co-worker and friend who retired the same day, Lynn. I had a great time and so many of my co-workers came by to wish me well. My co-workers from Jacksonville came, what a great group of people. I don't miss going to work every day but I do miss all my work friends. 31 years will do that!!

Dave coming home for the Holidays!
Dave came home on 12/27 for several weeks. It was great having him home and we so enjoyed the visit. There were several highpoints to his visit. Tiffany his wonderful girlfriend from Germany came to visit on 12/29 and spend some time with Dave. We had a family dinner at Suzanne's parents house. The dinner was one of great joy to have all our kids under one roof. We don't get to do that very often and to see all the kids finally getting along is something. I must add that Nicole got engaged to a wonderful man, Joe. They are planning a wedding for 10/9/2011. Dave's visit was just long enough before he left for training in Texas. He will be going to Kuwait and Iraq in late February. Please remember him in your prayers.
Christmas Day in the SNOW
Well we had a white Christmas in Birmingham. It was the first time Birmingham had snow on Christmas Day. Boy was it fun!! We had a great Christmas day with my sister and her husband and other family members. It really snowed (a lot for a Florida boy) and made it one of the best Christmases ever.

Getting my mother moved to Birmingham
The day arrived for my mother to move to an assisted living facility in Birmingham. This will get her closer to my sister since we are leaving Florida for a while. We left on 12/23 with a full 6 by 12 trailer for Birmingham. We decided to stop along the way and visit our 3 little boys, Justin, Matt and Tristan. They are the best and can make you feel so good with their hugs. We love them so!! The next day we left for Birmingham and arrived there about 2:30 and unloaded everything in time to have dinner with my nephew and his fiance'.
Moving to Port Orange
Well we made a big decision and moved from Salt Springs on 12/11. We so miss that place and all our friends there. It is and was a great place but we had to move to be closer to Port Orange. We moved to a new campground on Nova Road in South Daytona. It is okay but nothing like SALT SPRINGS. All went well except for 4 broken valve stems that made me take 2 trips to Eureka. That was a fun thing to do!!
