Visiting Salt Lake City

We took a nice drive over on Interstate 80 to Salt Like City. Now that is quite the drive as it is through the mountains. I have always wanted to see the Mormon Temple and the Tabernacle where the Choir performs. The Temple was built between 1853 and 1893 and is a beautiful building. I was a little disappointed as you could not go inside for a tour. It is limited to church members only. But the Taberancle is open to the public and was actually built before the Temple.  They have a 30 minute organ recital at noon in the Taberancle, which was really beautiful. The even had an accoustical sound test where they drop 2 pins and a nail and you can hear them as they hit the podium. This place is very nice to see and I can now cross it of my bucket list of things to do. Forgot to mention the very colorful tulips.
Since we were close to the Great Salt Lake we decide to go take a look. Great Salt Lake is approximately 75 miles long and about 35 miles wide, with a maximum depth of 33 ft. It is the largest lake between the Great Lakes and the Pacific Ocean, and is the largest saltwater lake in the Western Hemisphere.  We did taste the water and yes it is very, very salty. We are becoming quite the tourists in our trip to Alaska:)) Don't forget you can double click on the pictures to enlarge them.
Please remember David in your prayers!!
