Visiting Sinks Canyon State Park

Friday was beautiful as the weather got to a high of 70. We decide to visit Sinks Canyon State Park where the Popo Agie river flows out of the Wind River Mountains and through the canyon. The river goes underground for 1/4 mile and emerges in a large, calm pool called the Rise. You should see the huge Rainbow trout in the Rise. There is no fishing at the Rise:(  We took a 3 mile hike to see the Popo Agie Falls. What a wonderful hike and to see the falls is fantastic. You are up so high and the sound of the waterfall is so peaceful. It truly is a must see. We also got to see a ranger bringing up 10 mules with posts up the trail. They have to get wood for repairs for the trail and the mules are the only way. It is amazing that the mules are so sure-footed. We stopped to watch some rock climbers working their way up some very steep rocks. Sorry no pictures as my battery ran out on the camera. We hope to go back on Sunday and do some more hiking when the weather is to be a warm 64. Saturday is overcast and they are projecting a high of 53, but it is only 45 at 11am. I think 53 is wishful thinking.
We are having a great time and please remember David in your prayers. He was in Iraq when Osama was killed and their convoy did come under a few more attacks than usual.

double click to enlarge the photo and you can see the Mules
