Visiting Mesa Verde National Park in Colorado

We spent the day at Mesa Verde National Park. The drive in the park is one of beauty that goes on and on for 20 miles.  The park is 52,073 acres in size and the Ancestral Puebloans moved into the Mesa Verde area by AD 550, occupying the Colorado Plateau region until AD1300. We visited 2 cliff dwellings, the Spruce Tree House, which has a 100ft descent and ascent over a 1/2 mile and the Cliff Palace which requires you to follow a ranger down. The Cliff Palace requires you to climb several, 8 to 10 foot ladders for a vertical ascent of 100ft. The last part requires you to climb a very narrow path with 3 ladders. Suzanne could not look down:) These are pictures of the Spruce Tree House
